- Lagna (Ascendant) · लग्न
- The zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth. It sets the first house and therefore the frame of the whole chart, which is why the birth time matters to the minute.
- Rashi (Moon sign) · चंद्र राशि
- The sign the Moon occupied at birth. In Vedic astrology this, not the Sun sign, is what most readings and all matchmaking are based on.
- Nakshatra · नक्षत्र
- One of 27 lunar mansions, each spanning 13°20' of the zodiac. The Moon's nakshatra decides the starting dasha and carries much of the traditional character reading.
- Pada · पद / चरण
- The quarter of a nakshatra the Moon falls in — four to each nakshatra, 3°20' apiece. It is what connects the nakshatra to the navamsa, and it is why two people born in the same nakshatra can be read differently.
- Graha · ग्रह
- The nine bodies a Vedic chart is read from: Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and the two lunar nodes, Rahu and Ketu. Their sign, house and degree at the moment of birth are what the chart records.
- D1 and D9 charts · राशि एवं नवांश कुंडली
- D1 (Rashi) is the birth chart itself. D9 (Navamsa) is the ninth divisional chart, read alongside it for marriage and for the underlying strength of each planet.
- Vimshottari Dasha · विंशोत्तरी दशा
- A 120-year cycle of planetary periods, begun from the Moon's nakshatra, that maps which planet governs which stretch of life — with antardashas inside each period.
- Manglik (Mangal dosha) · मांगलिक दोष
- The placement of Mars in certain houses from the lagna, the Moon and Venus. Checked before marriage, and traditionally held to be cancelled by several well-known conditions.

Date of birth, time of birth and place of birth. The time matters most — the ascendant moves roughly one degree every four minutes, so a few minutes changes the lagna and every house with it.
Which ayanamsa do you use?
Lahiri (Chitrapaksha), the sidereal ayanamsa used by the Indian government's calendar and by most Indian astrologers, with whole-sign houses.
Can I read my Kundli in Hindi?
Yes. The whole chart switches between Hindi and English instantly, without recalculating — the positions are identical in both, because there is one calculation behind them.
What is Manglik or Mangal dosha?
It is the placement of Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house, checked from the lagna, the Moon and Venus. AaradhyaHub shows all three views rather than only one, along with the traditional cancellation conditions.
