महत्व · Significance
Purnima is the full moon, closing the waxing fortnight. It is among the most auspicious tithis of the month, and the day on which the Satyanarayan Katha is most often read.
Several Purnimas carry names and observances of their own — Guru Purnima, Sharad Purnima, Kartik Purnima — while every Purnima is considered a fitting day for charity, for ancestral remembrance and for beginning something new.

- Bathe early and keep a fast if you intend to.
- Read or arrange the Satyanarayan Katha.
- Offer kheer or panchamrit as prasad.
- Light a lamp in the evening and offer arghya to the moon.
- Give food or clothing in charity, as your means allow.
